Selon la Greater Manchester Police (GMP), James Davidson, déjà enregistré comme délinquant sexuel, utilisait Internet en se faisant passer pour un adolescent afin d’entrer en contact avec plusieurs jeunes filles. Cette fausse identité lui permettait d’engager des conversations avec des mineures malgré les restrictions auxquelles il était soumis.

L’enquête a établi que Davidson avait violé à plusieurs reprises son ordonnance de prévention des violences sexuelles (Sexual Harm Prevention Order), une mesure judiciaire qui impose des restrictions spécifiques aux personnes reconnues coupables de certaines infractions sexuelles afin de réduire les risques de récidive et de protéger le public.

Devant la justice, Davidson a reconnu une infraction de communication sexuelle avec une enfant ainsi que vingt-cinq violations de cette ordonnance. La répétition des manquements montre qu’il avait continué à contourner les restrictions judiciaires mises en place pour contrôler son comportement en ligne.

L’affaire souligne également les difficultés auxquelles sont confrontées les autorités dans la surveillance des délinquants sexuels sur Internet, où l’utilisation de faux profils peut faciliter la prise de contact avec des mineurs. Les restrictions imposées par les tribunaux constituent ainsi un outil important pour encadrer leur utilisation des appareils et services numériques.

La police du Grand Manchester a annoncé la condamnation de Davidson le 8 septembre 2026, rappelant à travers cette affaire que les violations des mesures de prévention peuvent elles-mêmes entraîner des poursuites et des peines d’emprisonnement.

In Manchester, the “Our Future” programme supports young people with disabilities as they make the transition into adulthood and work towards greater independence. The initiative is aimed particularly at young people aged 17 and a half and over who have a learning disability or are autistic.

The programme aims to help participants gradually develop practical skills that are useful in everyday life. Sessions cover several important areas, including self-confidence, travel and mobility, online safety, health and budgeting. These skills are intended to help young people better understand their environment, make informed decisions and carry out daily activities more independently.

Travel is an important part of the programme. Learning how to get around safely can make it easier for young people to access education, social activities, public services and, depending on their circumstances, employment opportunities. Money management and online safety also address practical challenges that young people may face as they become more independent.

The programme is associated with Pure Innovations, an organisation that supports people with learning disabilities, autism and other needs in developing their skills and independence.

Access to “Our Future” may depend on each young person’s individual circumstances. A referral from a social worker or an appropriate Manchester City Council service may be required. Conditions of access

People over 60 can participate for free in the “Swim for All” and “Swim for Fitness” sessions throughout the year. Young people up to 16 years old benefit from “Swim for All” sessions during school holidays and at selected schedules on weekends during school periods.

Participating pools include Abraham Moss, Arcadia, East Manchester, Hough End, Manchester Aquatics Centre, Moss Side and North City.

A free card required

You must have a free MCRactive Pay As You Go card that matches your age. The scheme is reserved for people residing in the Manchester City Council area.

An afternoon open to everyone

“Honouring Our Communities: Resilience & Determination” runs from 2pm to 6pm at the West Indian Sports & Social Club, Westwood Street, Moss Side, Manchester M14 4SW.

The event is organised by UNISON Manchester and the UNISON Inspire Black Members Forum. Attendance is open to the public, and visitors do not need to be members of a trade union.

The programme includes speakers, performances and opportunities to learn about Black history and community resilience. Organisations will also host information stalls, and light refreshments are expected to be available.

Booking required

Move, sing and discover

“City Play Together” takes place from 10:30am to 11:30am in the Museum’s Pitch Gallery, Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, M4 3BG.

Organized in partnership with City in the Community, the session combines sensory games, movements, songs and physical activities adapted to young children. It seeks to encourage toddlers to move while allowing them to discover a cultural space in a fun way.

Work and breakdowns on several lines
