Manchester Community Central is promoting a free online information session about easyfundraising, a platform that allows charities and community groups to receive donations when their supporters shop with participating retailers.

The session is scheduled for Monday, 19 October, from 1 PM to 2 PM, and will take place online.

How Does easyfundraising Work?

The idea is straightforward. When someone wants to shop online, they can visit the easyfundraising platform and select the charity or community organisation they wish to support.

If the purchase qualifies, the participating retailer makes a small donation to the chosen organisation at no additional cost to the shopper.

According to the information provided, more than 8,000 retailers participate in the scheme.

Donations are generally paid to registered organisations every three months and can be used to support their activities.

An Opportunity for Small Charities

For community organisations in Manchester, Stockport and surrounding areas, this initiative could provide an additional source of income.

Funds raised could help purchase equipment, organise local activities, support community projects or cover everyday operating expenses.

However, the amount collected will depend on the number of supporters taking part, the retailers they use and the purchases that qualify for donations.

Supporting Long-Term Community Funding

Easyfundraising should not replace traditional funding sources such as grants, public donations or business partnerships.

Instead, it can help charities diversify their income and encourage supporters to contribute through purchases they already make.

Organisations interested in attending the free session are encouraged to visit Manchester Community Central for further information and registration details.
